Prof. Loss Adjusters has a major presence in Maine.

Bruce Knowlton, Standish, Maine, has a long family history of Maine relations. Bruce attended Framingham State College in Massachusetts with studies in Computer Science. Prior to becoming a Public Adjuster, he was a Property/General Manager for 4 years. Bruce also has 17 years experience working for a successful remodeling and investment real estate company. He has an extensive background in estimating, construction, scheduling, and commercial building maintenance.

Here are a few examples of losses that we have adjusted in Maine:

Motel

A Portland motel suffered a major fire loss to half the rooms. We quickly prepared building, contents, and business interruption claims to enable the owner to restore the property. We documented our claim so well that it was accepted virtually as presented so that the settlement was negotiated as quickly as possible, an important consideration to the insured who wanted to resume operations as soon as possible.

Manufacturer

An April fire destroyed the inventory and warehouse of a manufacturer and distributor of Christmas decorations. When we examined the policy, we noted several problems with the insurance coverage and major variations in the policy from the agent’s quotation. We worked with the insured, agent, and insurance company over a six-month period to correct the errors. The reformed policy netted the insured more than $600,000 over the payment they would have received under the original policy. More important, we worked with the insurance company’s adjuster to allow the insured to begin to restore the buildings immediately. The insured completed his work by the end of July, in time for the Christmas selling season. Net result—the company was saved and its rights for recovery were fully protected.

An insurance company denied a claim for water damage after a major loss because their adjuster could not see any damage. We identified the damage with our moisture meter and a significant amount was paid to the insured.

Condo Association

IMG 1117 resized 600A sprinkler located in the attic of a condo building broke in the middle of an extremely cold winter and flooded the building. The local remediation company identified a relatively small area that was affected. We more than doubled the area with our knowledge of the building construction and significantly increased the claim. Also, the insurer wanted to pay for only the wet bottom cabinets. We were successful in receiving payment for the matching upper cabinets. We then worked closely with the contractor and the association to restore the building.
